Hundreds of Miles Installed | Water & Sewer Mainline
Pioneer Construction has become one of the largest underground utility contractors in Northeast Pennsylvania. Our experience comes from over 27 years in business serving the Public and Private Sector in water & sewer projects. We have completed 100’s of complex pipelines, well houses, tanks, combination sewer overflows, pump stations, and treatment plant projects throughout the region.
Our crews are very experienced in engineered shoring systems over 35+ feet deep with cities where utilities are often crowed in our excavations. We pride ourselves in excellent communication with utility owners and making sure a proper 1-Call is in place before we dig. Our employees are trained to “read the ditch and street” to recognize situations that maybe indictive of an unmarked utility.
The construction pipeline industry has seen an uptick in fatalities from unprotected trenches. This is unacceptable and a travesty. To educate our employees on the importance of safety, Pioneer holds training sessions throughout the year and an annual safety day. During this annual safety day, we bring in leading guest speakers from the safety community. One of those speakers, Eric Giguere, talked about his experience of being buried alive in an unprotected trench while installing a new sewer pipeline.
Pioneer Construction has taken safety awards for NUCA in PA for 2007, 2011, 2012, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021. This is a great accomplishment, but each day matters. We have safety officers in the company who complete job audits to ensure our employees comply with company policies and OSHA standards. Pioneer also has an established State Certified Safety Committee that meets monthly to discuss safety matters, incident reports, and improvements to be implemented within our culture.
